Teaching and training

We are a teaching practice, serving as a hub for healthcare professional teaching and training. We host placements for doctors who are on a training scheme to become a GP, undergraduate medical students and occasionally take on work experience students planning a career in medicine. We also do similar for nurses and pharmacists as well.

This is essential for their training and contributes to creating and sustaining the NHS clinical workforce whilst keeping our other staff up to date with the latest developments in their clinical area, passing on their expertise to others. All of these team members work as part of the clinical team for the time they are with us, and are bound by the same confidentiality procedures as our permanent GPs and other staff, all staff on joining also sign a written declaration of adherence to confidentiality.

We also encourage our permanent staff to develop and progress their career, often supporting additional aspirations clinically and in administration, management and leadership.

Whenever practical you will be asked to consent to a student being involved in your care. Sometimes, you may be asked if a student can see you before your appointment. You can withdraw your consent to the involvement of students or trainees at any time. If you prefer students have no access to your health or personal data, please let reception know.
